Queensland businesses were already using strategies other than cutting staff to cope with the financial crisis, according to a survey conducted in Brisbane last year.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, businesses polled included pharmacy, law, architecture and property development firms.
"Strategies included reducing debt, keeping the best clients while getting rid of the worst, gaining market share, motivating staff, recruiting top talent from other companies and developing retention strategies."
